THE Pickled Pepper takeaway in Penarth has been crowned as the best in south Wales.

The Pickled Pepper, based on Glebe Street, won the coveted title in a media sponsored Food and Drink Awards 2015.

The takeaway was praised by judges for offering “exceptional food” that was “restaurant quality”.

They added: “The Pickled Pepper is the takeaway bench mark and worth a little extra cost.”

After being crowned as the best takeaway The Pickled Pepper owner Sue Tasher said: “We are just elated and over the moon.

“It’s all down to the support of our staff and the loyalty of our customers.

“We would also like to thank our loyal customers for nominating us.”

She added that they couldn’t have won the title without the help of their award winning chef Anand George.

“It’s down to his skills, and by working as a team, that he have won this award,” she said.

Other takeaways that were highly commended included Zeera in Pontyclun, Tifin Rasoi in Barry, The Indian Valley Garden in Caerphilly, Wok in Walk Out and Katiwok in Cathays, Nahin Spice Centre in Heath and Bombay Mix in Whitchurch.
