DINAS Vets is offering customers the chance to see what happens behind closed doors later this month.

To celebrate its third anniversary of being open the Cardiff Road based veterinary practice will be holding an open day on Saturday, February 28.

During the open day customers will be able to see the range of equipment used to treat their beloved pets in the back rooms of the veterinary practice.

There will also be competitions, face painting, free refreshments, free goody bags for the first 100 people, and free dog microchipping.

The vets’ two supported charities, Four Paws Animal Rescue and Sunnyvale Cat Rescue, will also be on hand at the open day.

Emily Ward-Smith, who set up the veterinary practice herself, said: “We don’t usually let people into the back rooms, but we wanted to show them we have some of the best facilities in Cardiff.

“We wanted to show people what we get up to in the back and they can learn about what happens to their pet as it can be quite scary.”

Emily, 40, said she had always wanted to be a vet but was inspired to change her career path after she had two near death experiences in yachting accidents, when first her boat capsized and then she chose not to sail on another yacht that subsequently sank

“It made me feel that life is too short not do what you want to be doing,” she said.

“It’s really something I have wanted to do my entire life.”

Dinas Vets will be open between 11am and 3pm on Saturday, February 28.
