A PENARTH-based theatre company is set to host an original musical at the Paget Rooms next weekend.

Night Owl Theatre is set to perform it's original magical musical 'I Merlin' between Thursday, March 5, and Saturday, March 7.

Katherine Cole, who wrote the musical, said: "I Merlin is an exciting retelling of a classical Celtic myth from the medieval Mabinogion, expressed beautifully through 21st century music. It is the tale of the Lady of Flowers, created as a wife for Llewellyn, cursed by his mother never to have a human wife. Touch the magic as we hear how the wizards create Blodeuwedd, and about her unfaithfulness and her fate. Love, lust, owls and eagles illustrate the story, with Merlin himself as the wise narrator, all expressed in soaring song and original words."

She added: "It has evolved into an enchanting piece brought wonderfully to life by an exceptional cast."

The 27 strong cast are all from Penarth and Cardiff

I Merlin will be performed at the Paget Rooms, Penarth, at 7pm on Thursday (March 5), Friday, and Saturday, with another 2pm matinee on Saturday.

Tickets from TicketSource.co.uk £9.50 or £8.50 concessions, or from Foxy’s Deli, Penarth.

A pre-show lunch will also be held from 12pm on Saturday at Foxy's Deli with tickets priced £15.
