FOR the sixth year running a Charity Golf day in aid of the “Cystic Fibrosis Trust” organised by Peter Goodfellow took place at The Glamorganshire Golf Club on Good Friday, April 3, with a record number of 21 teams participating in a Team Stableford event where the best three out of four scores counted on each hole.

Prior to the presentations a few words were spoken by their club captain Maurice Buchalter.

The winning team in the event were Dave Ellis, Mike Jones, Alan Buchan and Jordan Price-Davies with a total of 117 points, who edged out a senior team comprising of Dr Ems Davies, Bob “Lord Penarth” Edwards and Bobby Young with a total of 115 points.

Third place went to Principality Plastics with David Baker Estate Agents in forth. Fifth team home were JMD Law Solicitors followed in sixth place by the Glamorganshire Captains team.

The longest drive on the fourth was won by Patrick Regan who just edged out The Ben Luck, unfortunately Dave Ellis wasn’t allowed to drive this hole.

The nearest the pin on the 18th was won by our resident Chief Snake Dave Hancock and didn’t they all hear about it – especially in Sully.

The final presentation for the best endeavour went to Charlie, Spencer and Kieron.

Following an excellent curry/chilli provided by club caterer (Zippy and his staff) a raffle took place and many thanks to Richard “Harry Hill” Hughes and Nigel Jones who raised over £600.

Entertainment was then provided by Stu Underhill in the form of a Karaoke and a special mention to Jerome “Wonderwall” Bryan for starting the night off, due to the club captain using his voting powers to break the singing tradition.

A grand total of £3225 was raised for the Cystic fibrosis trust charity.

The organisers would like to thank The Glamorganshire Golf Club for letting them stage the event again this year, the Steward (Ollie and his bunch of helpers) and the following who donated prises – Jim Corsi, Richard Hughes, Peer Wilson, Sam Docherty at SET, Brian Rigby, Paul Brown, Lyndon Thomas, Andy and Kay Jones, Andy Coslett and Andrew and Alex in the Pro Shop

If anyone has been missed out it’s not intentional and they would like to apologise.

To make any additional donations to the trust or if you would like to help with any additional fundraising activities please contact Pete Goodfellow on 07986316383/02920 701022

They are looking forward to next year’s event when they hope to attract a maximum of 25 participating teams – once again “Thank you all for the great support” again.
