A GROUP of volunteers from Penarth stepped up to the challenge, to paint and sand the underside of a 72 foot yacht.
They set sail aboard Challenge Wales bound for Lymington on the South Coast where they spent two weeks over the Easter period maintaining the round the world Tall Ship.
The volunteers were able to lift the vessel out of the water and spread anti-fouling paint across the bottom of the ship.
When the job was done the volunteers sailed her back home to Penarth.
The Challenge Wales is Wales’ largest sail training vessel and it hosts activities on board which help people aged 12-25 gain personal skills in a stimulating and friendly environment.
