A HOSPITAL information and support centre has celebrated its first anniversary.

The University Hospital Llandough's centre celebrated the milestone on Friday, May 15.

The centre will be moving home in the next year, to the plaza which is currently under construction at the hospital.

It has provided advice and guidance to almost a thousand people in Cardiff and the Vale and further afield since it first opened.

Jane Rowlands-Mellor, lead nurse patient experience, said: “I’m really pleased that the centre has been able to help so many people.

"The feedback from visitors has been very positive. People have said ‘what a lovely place, such a welcoming area, with plenty of resources available.'

"This provision would not have be possible if it wasn’t for the support and time given by health board volunteers, third sector organisations and staff members that support the centre on a weekly or monthly basis.”

They are supported by several third sector organisations such as the Alzheimer's Society, Diverse Cymru, Epilepsy Wales and many others. They aim to build on these third sector links and are on the lookout for new volunteers.
