RNLI Penarth were summoned into action on Monday, May 25, to rescue a sinking vessel and treat a person on board.
Crew member Owain Davies received a call at about 2.45pm from the coastguard saying that a boat was taking on water in the channel between Penarth pier and the Cardiff Bay barrage.
The crew immediately set out on the Atlantic 85 vessel but by the time they had reached the scene, the boat had already passed through the barrage.
They then proceeded to administer first aid to a woman on board who had suffered from a medical condition.
Paramedics were also called in to offer a second medical opinion regarding the health of the boat's crew member.
The rescue team and the paramedics were able to reassure the lady and transport her safely from the boat onto the pontoon.
They then began the process of pumping two feet of water out of the boat and the Barry Dock lifeboat crew were on hand to assist as they had a larger pump.
The passenger in question was transported to safety and the vessel locked through into Cardiff Bay.
