LAST year's town mayor has presented a cheque to his chosen charities for the year 2014-2015.

Councillor Martin Turner handed over £1,728.99 to both Llamau and Penarth & District Live at Home scheme on Tuesday, June 16.

He had selected the two charities upon taking office in May 2014.

The council said they were delighted to be able to raise so much money for two great causes.

Cllr Turner has raised over £3000 for the two causes during his term through various activities and events.

In attendance along with representatives from the charities were Ceri Lambert (Ceri Lambert Designs) who organised the Mad Hatter’s Family Day at the Kymin and Shelagh Greenland who organised the St David's Day charity concert.

Mentions were given to Naunton Liles who could not attend by helped out with his time and expertise as a musical director.
