A MINI air show will be one of the main attractions at this summer's Carnival Day on Saturday, July 11.

The show will take place throughout the day and some "very exciting additions" have been promised.

A spokesman for Penarth town council said: "I’m sure we all have our favourites and we’re sure that the little child in you will be compelled to visit the Cliff Top and Esplanade to see."

The day will start with the RAF Falcons Parachute team whose aircraft should be in the sky above the clifftop from 11.30am and they will look to jump from 11:40am to 11.45am from a height between 9,00ft and 12,000ft.

At 12.15pm the Vulcan XH558 bomber will return to the area with her notoriously loud engines but for the last time as this is her 'farewell flight'.

During her service period from the 1950s to 1985, she inspired new generations of engineers and aviators and played a key role in the Cold War.

An RAF Tutor Display will take place at 2pm. The Grob 115E, known as the Tutor is used for Elementary Flying Training. This highly manoeuvrable aircraft makes for the perfect training aircraft.

At 3.00pm is the SAR Sea-King with Penarth RNLI. The display between the RAF Search and Rescue Helicopter and the RNLI in-shore life boat has been a favourite of Carnival Day for many years and with the helicopter going into civilian hands late this year, who knows when we may see them display again on this day?

At 5.00pm is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight with two Spitfires display for you at the Esplanade.

Often referred to as the people’s favourite aircraft of all time, Spitfires fought in every operational theatre and remained in RAF front-line service up to 1954.

There will be Civilian Aircraft on show at 6.30pm including the WW2 Mustang. This aircraft fought in WW2 and has starred in Hollywood Blockbusters.

The P-51 was the most successful long-range escort of the war and has a speed of 703 kph.

The Global Stars are a team of acrobatic pilots. The aircraft are equipped with smoke trails that track the twists and turns vividly for the spectators.

As a team of British Champions you can expect some seriously good aerobatic manoeuvres during their display. At

Steve Carver is one of the Global Stars Team and will put on a solo display. Steve is a British Champion of formation and solo displays in the UK and travels all over the world displaying at numerous airshows.
