THE annual Sea Sunday service will be held on Sunday, July 5, on the Esplanade.
The community will gather to remember those whose work takes them to sea in one way or another.
At 2.50pm the mayor and clergy, together with the uniformed organisations, will leave the RNLI station and parade to the Italian Gardens where the service will commence at 3pm.
The service, arranged by the Parish of Penarth and Llandough, will be conducted by Canon Peter Cox, of All Saints, Penarth. There will be hymns, readings and an address, and it’s hoped that many members of the public will join in to remember seafarers and pray for them, their families and those who support them.
Speaking of Sea Sunday Canon Peter Cox said: “Across the world there are thousands of seafarers who regularly face challenging conditions, people who work hard to bring us food, clothes and many other things. Others in organisations like the Royal Navy, RNLI and Coastguard work to keep us safe. Sea Sunday is a time for the community to show our support for them and pray for their safety.”
