A VALE business owner travelled to Downing Street to meet prime minister David Cameron.

Jenny Yeo, from Penarth, owns Hello And... cakes and was there to launch the Start up Britain bus tour.

The aim of the initiative is to provide advice for small businesses around the country.

Hello And... cakes was chosen to supply 52 cupcakes for the event which were decorated with the Houses of Parliament, Downing Street and the prime minister himself.

Because her company was an official supplier for the event, Jenny got the chance to meet with Mr Cameron one on one.

He introduced her to the idea of a start up loan which he said she should be eligible to apply for.

Having asked Jenny how the government could help small businesses, he promised to have a look at the government website to see how easy information about resources is to access.

Jenny told the prime minister to her concept of a nationwide bakery network whereby bakers provide cakes for Hello And... cakes to decorate and package.

Companies can then order these cakes for clients in different parts of the country with either a standard or personalised design.

The Prime Minister then sampled the cakes, which he loved.

Speaking about the experience, Jenny said: “I was really pleased, it was the kind of opportunity you don't expect to get.

He asked me what the government could do to help small businesses, particularly with start up loans and grants.

He loved the cakes and said his daughter loved baking too.”

Hello And... cakes will be following the Start Up Britain Tour around the country where it will visit 25 cities including Cardiff.
