A PENARTH author will be launching her new children's book on Saturday, July 4.

Sheila Harries' debut novel, 'The Picture that Made Time Fly' is for children aged 8-11.

It is set on a school trip to a museum which sends pupils on a journey through time where they face many dangers and challenges.

Sheila has worked as a school librarian in Oxfordshire and has plenty of experience talking to children about books.

She hosted the likes of Philip Pullman and Malorie Blackman at her library.

Now a Penarth resident, she is delighted that The Welsh books council chose her title as children's book of the month for July.

Sheila looks forward to meeting young readers and signing copies of the book from 11am-1pm.

Refreshments are available.
