A FAMILY is set to visit all 55 coastal piers in England and Wales to raise money for the RNLI.

Gavin Priestley, along with his girlfriend, Sam Bell, and 11-year-old son, Dylan, will start their epic journey from Penarth at 9am on Monday, July 20.

They aim to complete the feat in just 20 days in their silver BMW.

The idea behind the trip came from a road trip the family took to Glasgow from Penarth for the Commonwealth games in 2014.

They found that the journey was fantastic and with no suitable sporting event to travel to this summer, they knew they needed another goal for their trip.

They saw a television programme featuring a couple who had kissed at the end of every UK pier and they decided to do a similar thing but replace the kiss with a 'selfie'.

The list of piers also includes Torquay, Southampton, Brighton, Southend, Skegness, Blackpool and Aberystwyth as well as many others.

Gavin has set up a blog to record the journey at http://55piers20days.blogspot.co.uk/ as they hope to raise as much money for the RNLI as possible.

They will drive anti-clockwise around the country and they are using the list from the Piers society as their official website.

The aim is to finish back in their hometown of Penarth on Saturday, August 8.
