A LOCAL history book which covers an area which is rarely written about has been launched.
Alan Smith's The Little World of the One O’Clock Gate explores the history of the area between Dinas Powys and Michaelston-le-Pit.
It includes maps and photographs of the popular recreational area.
The maps date from the eighteenth century to the present day and show how the landscape has changed over the years due to changes in land use.
The author hopes that more local residents will be encouraged to explore the area and find the locations where the photographs were taken, as illustrated on a special map.
References and a bibliography are provided for those interested in finding out more about the history of the area.
The book has been published on a non-profit-making basis and is on sale at £7 at the Dinas Powys Parish Hall and local shops are supporting this community venture including NISA Supermarket, The Village Store, Crafty Artbox and Craftfolk.
