WOMENS only running club "Women Running Penarth" have a new sponsor, and celebrated with a Strawberries and Fizz evening.

SOHO Hairdressing are the new sponsors of the group, and invited members for an evening of pampering at the Aveda Salon in Penarth on Friday, August 21.

The salon dedicated the whole day to "Breast Cancer Now" the new charity formed through the amalgamation of Breakthrough Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer Campaign.

Women Running Penarth's (WRP) chosen charity, 'Breast Cancer Now' is the largest Breast Cancer Charity in the UK. They have pledged that nobody should loose their life to breast cancer by 2050.

During the evening Sally Powell and her stylists advised on hairstyles and pampered the ladies with hand and neck massages and Annie of Annbeauty who has her own salon upstairs at the Herbert Terrace site also supported the evening with treatments.

Rhiannon and Leanne from Welsh National Opera's Wig and Make-up department gave a very informative demonstration of the preparation required for the wearing of wigs on stage.

Sally Powell of SOHO hairdressing presented WRP with a cheque for £500. She said: “We are delighted to sponsor Women Running Penarth to enable them to hold their community 'All Soles Family Fun Run' next year to support Breast Cancer Now."

Chairwoman of WRP Erika Fitzgibbon received the cheque on behalf of the club. “We are very grateful to SOHO hairdressing for their sponsorship as this will mean everything raised during next year's Fun Run will go to Breast Cancer Now," she said.

Erika went on to thank those who have donated prizes for a charity raffle, namely Waterloo Tea Rooms, Pro Health and Nutrition, Windsors Gifts, Touch of Elegance, Griffin Books, Ocho Lounge and Sweet Peony.

A fantastic £300 has already been raised for Breast Cancer Now.
