EVERY year Penarth Town Council holds an annual competition for the best kept plot at the Leisure Garden sites throughout Penarth at Harbour View, Paget Terrace, Windsor Road, Sully Terrace and Cogan.

The town mayor held a reception at West House on August 26 to award prizes for the overall winners and each individual site.

Results from this year's competition are:

Best kept leisure garden overall - first, Mr C Wearmouth, Sully Terrace (plot four), £60; second, Mr A Evans, Sully Terrace (plot 21), £30; third, Mr D Allen-Oliver, Sully Terrace (plot 28/29), £15.

Best kept plot on each site - Sully Terrace (plot four), Mr C Wearmouth, £15; Cogan (plot 24), Mr K Matthews, £15; Windsor Road (plot nine), Mr H Williams £15; Paget Terrace (plot two), Mrs C Saunders, £15; Harbour View (plot 11), Mr Herlihy, £15.

The town mayor congratulated all the individual winners for maintaining their plots to such a high standard and wished them all the best for the future.

Many of the other plots throughout the sites had been close contenders and their efforts will hopefully be rewarded in the future.
