ST AUGUSTINE'S Church is welcoming back its highly successful Pet Service which was held a couple of years ago in Penarth.

On October 18, parishioners will flock to the church at 3pm, including those who attended last year like Beth and her grandparents' dog Lucy.

Father Andrew James will take the service as he is a great lover of animals and regularly brings his own dog to church services.

All pets are invited, whatever they are. Last time they included lots of dogs, the odd cat and a tortoise.

The service is not a long one and will be accompanied by appropriate hymns and blessings for all the animals. Some pets might be more secure in a cage if necessary.

They should all be well behaved and naturally should be kept under control. All pets - and of course their owners - will be made very welcome.

Speaking about the Pet Service, parishioner Hilary Williams said “I am delighted that there is to be another Pet Service. Animals are God’s creatures, and many of us want to give thanks for the joy they bring us”.
