THE Welsh coast could experience large waves over the new few days due to strong coastal winds.

Natural Resources Wales is expecting the waves to hit coastal areas and are advising people to be alert and prepared for flooding.

The threat is due to a combination of high tides and a strong wind.

Scott Squires from Natural Resources Wales, said: “We’re asking people to take great care by the coast.

“A fairly high spring tide will be whipped up by strong winds and some large waves could splash over sea defences.”

Meanwhile, heavy and persistent rain is expected to affect Wales on Saturday, November 14 and Sunday, November 15.

NRW will provide more information from Friday, November 13 and will put flood risk management procedures in place for affected areas if required.

Natural Resources Wales will issue Flood Alerts and Warnings if rivers reach trigger levels.

People travelling over the next three days are advised to take extra care and allow extra time for their journey as driving conditions may be hazardous.

People are advised to keep an eye on weather reports and news for details of any disruption in their area.

Flood alerts and flood warnings are updated on the Natural Resources Wales’ website every 15 minutes and are available to view at naturalresources.wales/flooding

Organisers of outdoor events are also advised to check the Met Office website for the most up-to-date forecasts.
