MYSTERY boxes have sprung up all over Penarth recently.

The wooden boxes began to spring up over night on November 6 at random locations around the town.

Each contains a bronze plaque saying "suggestion box" and has a pen and writing pad attached.

The boxes each contain their own unique subtitles including:

Box one "Because we've run out of good ideas" - currently in Salisbury Avenue

Box two "Warning good suggestions may be implemented" - at Alberta Place railway path

Box three "Think outside the box" - on the Esplanade

Box four "Gathering your ideas, passing them off as our own" - on Station Approach

Box five "Go on I dare you!" - currently on Queens Road near the Pilot pub

Box six "Warning your suggestion may not be ignored" - on Stanwell Road near the library.

One suggestion that has already been implemented saw trees by the railway path and the Alberta Place barrier lit up with fairy lights.

During the recent stormy weather, four of the boxes sustained damage and were temporarily out of order.

But some followed box three's advice and taped their suggestions to the outside.

Those behind the idea have kept their identities a secret as well as their intentions 'until the time is right'.

A total of 206 suggestions and one conker have been emptied from the boxes.

It has so far offered "a unique glimpse into the psyche; dreams, priorities and passions of one Welsh seaside town during the wet and windy month of November 2015," said a spokesperson for the mystery group.

The twitter account @suggestionbox20 recently tweeted a picture of one of the boxes saying: "A temporary installation. Have you had your say? Will your voice be heard? Find one quick before they're gone."

The entire contents of each and every box will be emptied once a suitable venue has been identified.
