PLANS have been lodged for 30 new flats at Northcliffe.

Celtic developments have submitted a plan for new apartments, including the demolition of the existing dwelling and outbuilding at the site on Northcliffe Drive, just off Paget Place.

The lodge is based on the escarpment overlooking Penarth marina and local architect Chris Loyn is the agent behind the proposed development.

The site is subject to tree preservation order.

The plans also involve new access and alterations to the adjacent parking area, provision of a footpath link, replacement tree planting and landscaping.

But it will be subject to a site visit by Penarth town councillors before they pass on their recommendations to the Vale coucil.

At a meeting of Penarth Town Council's planning committee on January 21, councillors agreed to arrange a site visit because it was a "big application".

Leader of the council, cllr Mike Cuddy, immediately declared an interest in the application which could be prejudicial.

A public notice has been placed on site describing it as an "application that may be of general interest."

The site visit will take place on Wednesday February 3.

Consultation with residents, relevant council departments and other consultees is currently ongoing.

Once the town council have discussed the application it will go before the Vale of Glamorgan's planning committee.
