AN INJURED casualty was rescued from the water near Sully Island recently.
A crew from Penarth Coastguard was called to the causeway leading to the island at 5.34pm on Tuesday, May 24.
The elederly man had attempted to cross the causeway as it was flooding despite being warned by passers by not to cross.
He had fallen over and required medical attention.
Paramedics treated him at the scene with his injuries said to be only "minor".
There are reports that two people had gone into the water to help the man.
A spokeswoman for the coastguard said: "We don't suggest people attempt to rescue people in the water without proper equipment and training.
"We would advise them to call 999 and ask for the coastguard."
