A WOMAN who allegedly used a racial slur during a Wales Euro 2016 game was kicked out of a Penarth pub last week.

The incident occurred while the England versus Wales match was being shown at The Bear's Head on Windsor Road.

The woman, who has not been identified, allegedly made what was perceived as a racist comment about one of the players in the game.

Another group of women overheard and a confrontation ensued.

All those involved were then asked to leave.

A friend of the woman who allegedy made the racial comment - and who asked not to be named herself - said she saw little wrong though.

"My friend is really panicking about this," she said.

"She did not say it to them and she did not do anything wrong in my eyes.

"She has the right to express her views."

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "Two parties of two females each sitting and standing together close by but on separate tables began to aggressively argue due to racist comments made by the standing party.

"Both groups were asked to leave.

"Wetherspoon will not tolerate racist behaviour in its pubs.

"It also backs its staff member and manager in the action they took."
