VOTERS in Penarth are going to the polls today (June 23) in the EU referendum.
They will choose whether to stay in or leave the European Union
Polling stations have sprung up around the town and people can cast their vote between 7am-10pm.
The Penarth Times is out on the streets asking people why it's important to vote.
One voter said it's important to vote because it is such a "big decision" and will affect the lives of our children and grandchildren for years to come
Another said that he was voting because it's a big moment for the country and for future generations.
A voter in Sully said that this was the biggest decision the country has had to make.
She said that she felt greater numbers of people were voting than in general elections.
A Penarth voter said that this is a decision that effects everyone now and for a very long time.
