A TELEVISION star has joined forces with a dementia charity to put on a special exhibition at Penarth Pier Pavilion.

Tom Cullen, Welsh born star of Downton Abbey, has teamed up with Forget-me-Not Chorus for their upcoming 'demenstoria exhibition'.

Mr Cullen has a strong affiliation with the Forget-me-Not Chorus which aims to help people with dementia and their families through singing.

The charity is soon to run its fourth choir in the Cardiff South, Penarth and Vale of Glamorgan area to expand its reach.

Alongside his mum, Louise Osborn, Mr Cullen will be reading tales, trials, and tribulations inspired by the lives and memories of choir members, their families and

carers.

The exhibition which runs from July 21 until August 2, is an artistic exploration of living with dementia and will fill the Pavilion with words, pictures, and music from the members of the chorus over the years.

It will be a collection of poignant moments in their Forget-Me-Not lives and a chance for them to relive them whilst enabling friends, family, and the public to view, listen, and be a part of.

The exhibition is being created by photographer, Dan Green and features the poems written by Louise Osborn.

Alongside the exhibition there are a series of lunchtime and evening concerts from musicians from Welsh National Opera.

Joining the exhibition, Tom Cullen, star of ITV’s Downton Abbey, will be reading some of his mum’s poetry.

His mum has worked with the Chorus for many years capturing the lives of the choir members and their stories, creating beautiful words and poems.

Inspired by the lives of the ForgetMeNot choir members, through her writing, she reveals the truth of living with dementia.

Forget-Me-Not Chorus’ Musical Director, and ITV’s ‘Inspirational Woman of the Year’ 2012, Kate Woolveridge said: "The choir is a safe environment for people to share.

"I believe passionately in the power of music as therapy.

"Research shows that while people with dementia won’t always remember singing, the feelgood factor they get from it and the emotion they feel stays with them afterwards."
