PUPILS from a Penarth primary school welcomed Wales' historic EURO 2016 squad home today at Cardiff Airport.

The lucky children were selected from a draw and were acommpanied by staff to greet manager Chris Coleman, Gareth Bale and other players.

Pupils had autographs signed and posed for pictures with the squad before the team set off on a open top bus parade to Cardiff City Stadium.

Fairfield Primary class teacher Emma Stead said: "Tens of thousands lined the streets of Cardiff to catch a glimpse of a group of players that came close to being the first British team to reach a tournament final for half a century.

"Fairfield (were) the first to sing and congratulate them as the team appeared through the gates.

"We are sure both children and staff will never forget such a memorable occasion."

She added:"Thank you to our parent Mrs Houghton who made this happen. Fairfield 'together stronger'".
