PENARTH Acoustic Club has donated more than £700 worth of musical instruments and accessories to Wales’ leading music charity.

Community Music Wales delivers workshops, mentoring schemes and community music training across Wales.

The charity’s aim is to contribute to the empowerment of disadvantaged groups and individuals through participation in creativity and learning, primarily through making music.

Hannah Jenkins, director of Community Music Wales said: “We work with a wide range of people bringing music to youngsters, people with disabilities and the elderly. The donation of these instruments, particularly the ukuleles, means we can now deliver workshops that we previously weren’t able to do.

"Our workshops support creativity and help people to build confidence in a creative and fun environment giving them the opportunity to write, play, record or perform their own music. We are so grateful to the Penarth Acoustic Club and their supporters for this donation”.

The acoustic club, which holds monthly live music evenings at the Conservative Club in Penarth, used proceeds from the club’s raffles to purchase the instruments.

The next Penarth Acoustic Club will be held tomorrow (Friday, July 15), and will feature John Adams and Fly Yeti Fly, a duo from South West England.
