MYSTEROUS boxes which sprang up in Penarth last year have returned.

The boxes have reappeared to gauge people's opinions following the UK's decision to leave the European Union.

They had first appeared in November last year in six locations causing intrigue among Penarthians and raising many theories about their purpose.

The boxes had a pen and paper attached so that people could write down whatever suggestions they had.

And now, following the historic referendum result, the boxes are back to see how Penarth feels about the decision.

One of the "ballot boxes" is located outside Foxy's Deli and another outside the library in the town centre.

The organisers, who remain anonymous, said: "The EU referendum was a snapshot opinion. The Vale of Glamorgan voted to remain.

"As the rhetoric of the campaigns crystallise in to facts and fictions and as the implications of leaving the EU emerge, we want to know what the people of the town, including those who were unable to vote, thinking and feeling now? The nation is divided, but are we?"
