AN ACTOR is set to take on an ultra-marathon to raise money for Penarth's Marie Curie hospice.
Mark Lewis Jones is running the 47 mile Brecon Beacons Ultra in November.
Over the course of the Brecon Beacons Ultra, Mr Lewis Jones will climb 1,675 metres which almost double the height of Pen y Fan.
Earlier this year Mark became a Pay for a Day ambassador for Marie Curie and is aiming to raise £6,660 which is how much the charity needs to raise to run the Bridgeman Road hospice for a single day.
He is best known for his leading role in the Sky One drama Stella, as well as roles in Game of Thrones, Hinterland and with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
He is currently fitting training around his roles in National Treasure for Channel 4 and the second series of Welsh drama series Byw Celwydd which is due to screen on S4C early next year.
He said: "I’ve seen firsthand the work that Marie Curie Nurses and all the hospice staff provide.
"Not only do they care for people with terminal illnesses but they also provide emotional support to their families and loved ones, and offer vital bereavement support for children, too.
"I know that this run across the Beacons is going to be tough but I wanted to do my bit to support the hospice staff as they continue to care for people at the end of their lives.
"These amazing people will keep me motivated to get up those hills and through the wind, rain and snow to the finish."

"Each year, the hospice provides care and support for more than 1,200 people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones.
"The charity is only able to raise the £6,660 it costs to run the hospice each day thanks to the generosity of our supporters across Wales.
"We’re delighted that Mark has chosen to support Marie Curie, raising both money and awareness of the work we do and people that we help, and we are very grateful to everyone that sponsors Mark in this epic challenge."
