REPORTS of cries for help led to both of Penarth's lifeboats being launched on Sunday (September 18).
Both of Penarth's lifeboats raced to the Lavernock Point area at around 8.20am and started shoreline and sea searches.
After a thorough search the lifeboats were stood down and able to return to station with the call being recorded as a false alarm with good intent.
A spokesman for Penarth RNLI said: "The volunteers were especially grateful to the skipper of the Benjoma Too fishing boat who, once again, offered both information and assistance with regard the incident."
The lifeboats returned to station just after 9am.
