THE SIXTEENTH Penarth Christmas Tree Festival is set to take place next month.

The festival will take place on the weekend of December 10-11 at St Augustine's Church and will see fifty trees on display decorated by local people, businesses and charities.

The festival will be opened by the town mayor on the Saturday at 11am and will be open for visitors until 5pm that day.

On the Sunday, it will be open between noon and 5pm.

The proceeds from the festival will be donated to Kotu Trust in Gambia, Barnado's Cymru and the local charity, Making Music Changing Lives.

Last year the three charities supported each received the sum of £1,000.

A spokesman for the festival said: "The team organising the festival are looking forward to welcoming visitors to view a wide variety of ingeniously decorated trees and enjoy the live music.

"All the money raised at the festival will provide help to the three charities being supported this year."

Those visiting the festival will also be treated to a full programme of live music.

The festival will close on the Sunday with an evening concert by Alison Ling and David Geoffrey Thomas.

The concert will begin at 7.30pm and tickets are priced at £12 or £6 for students.
