A BESTSELLING Welsh author is set to visit the town to talk about his work next month.

Owen Sheers will be at All Saints Church in Victoria Square on Friday, February 3, to discuss his poetry, plays and novels.

The events is organised by Penarth's Griffin Books.

Mr Sheers is the author of Resistance and I Saw A Man, the latter having been shortlisted for the Wales Book of the Year 2016 fiction prize.

The evening coincides with Sherman Theatre's forthcoming production of his verse-drama Pink Mist.

Mr Sheers will be discussing his work with journalist and writer Oliver Balch, who recently took part in the Penarth Literature Festival to talk about his own recently published memoir Under the Tump.

The event begins at 7.30pm, with doors open from 7pm.

Tickets are £10 each, £7.50 for school students, including a glass of wine or soft drink.

Mr Sheers' books will be on sale at discounted prices on the night and he will be available to sign copies.
