ADVENTUROUS staff from WebBox Digital in Penarth will swap laptops for landscapes as they take on South Wales’ highest mountain, Pen-Y-Fan, on Sunday, May 21.

The team will be taking on the challenge in aid of patients in Penarth and the Vale supported by Bristol-based charity, The Pituitary Foundation.

The charity is the only one in the country supporting people affected by pituitary gland disorders.

Managing director, Will Roberts, said: "We have clients who have been affected by pituitary disorders. We have witnessed just how devastating a diagnosis can be and how little is known about the charity. We are always eager to support charitable causes and the work that the Pituitary Foundation do is amazing. We want to help them raise vital awareness as well as a few pounds in the process. We’ve set a target of £500 and are 25 per cent of the way there already.”

Pituitary Foundation senior fundraising manager, Jay Sheppard, said he would like to thank WebBox Digital for joining this challenge.

Mr Sheppard said: “We really appreciate the support and sincerely hope that the team enjoy the experience. They will take in some of the most spectacular scenery that Wales has to offer from the summit of Pen-Y-Fan. We have many companies and individuals alike signed up to join us on this trek and if anyone else would like to join us then I would welcome them. There is no registration fee and no minimum sponsorship, as a small charity absolutely every penny raised will make a vital difference to our work"

He added: "Most people don't know what the pituitary is. It is a small gland near your brain, about the size of a pea, and it controls several of the other hormone glands in your body. When something goes wrong with your gland, most commonly a growth, it can have major consequences, often life threatening.”

The Pituitary Foundation provides free support services for anyone affected by pituitary conditions, including a National Helpline, Endocrine Nurse Specialist Helpline, publications and a network of local support groups across the country.
