A FOOTBALLING legend was the star attraction at an event held in Penarth last week.

Former Brazil international Pele visited the Vale Sports Arena in Penarth Road on Friday, June 2 at the event supported by PG10 Coaching.

Pele scored 1281 goals in 1363 games in his career, winning the World Cup on three occasions with Brazil and is widely regarded as the greatest footballer of all time.

The event that took place the same weekend as the UEFA Champions League Final saw the Brazilian legend meet PG10 junior players as well as guests from across the world.

Also in attendance was close friend of PG10 Wales legend Neville Southall and for the first time since the 1958 World Cup Wales international Cliff Jones and Pele where brought together.

The rock band Super Furry Animals also attended.

Peter Griffiths of the Vale Sports Arena said: “ Our sole aim for the evening was to bring the community together and ensure the next generation also had an opportunity to meet this true living legend.

“I am proud to have provided the opportunity for so many people to have had the opportunity to meet Pele and have their photograph taken but I am especially proud that so many children also met him as I know Pele was also.

“I am also proud to have given the community the opportunity to meet Pele”

Free tickets were given to “community legends” and the PG10 kids got the chance to go on stage and meet Pele.
