THE LATEST feature in our From the Archives series are the shops at Tennyson Road, 1967.
This was a thriving hub of the poets corner estate which at the time included Ferrari’s Fish and Chip Shop, John Seymour's Hairdressers, Tennyson Road Post Office and newsagents, Buck’s Greengrocery shop, Pearce’s Grocery, Masters Butchers shop and Evelin Ward's wool shop.
The green in front of the shops was a very well used play area which was easily supervised by all who used the shops.
Andrew Coslett, who submitted the picture, said: "As a boy, it was an idyllic place to grow up.
"Our school, Fairfield was on our doorsteps and we were spoilt for choice with places to roam and play all around us.
"The many families that lived on] the estate still hold very fond memories of these shops where our mothers would chat with friends and neighbours, and us children would buy our penny sweets before going to school."
Many thanks to Andrew Coslett from the Images of Bygone Penarth Facebook page.
