A PENARTH man's acapella choir finished second in the live final of a BBC talent show last weekend.

Robert Lindsay of Plymouth Road is a member of All the King's Men who finished runners up in the BBC's Pitch Battle live final on Saturday, July 22.

Harriet Taylor of Church Road also reached the live final with her group Sgarmes.

Mr Lindsay's choir All the King's Men based at King's College London  and Ms Taylor's choir Sgarmes originating from Aberystwyth reached the grand final after getting through the heats three weeks ago.

Mr Lindsay said: "We were so proud to make it to the final two and to come second against the amazing Leeds Contemporary Singers.

"It was an amazing experience and a privilege to have been able to perform with such amazing competitors and phenomenal musicians."

The show hosted by Mel Giedroyc and starring the renowned choirmaster Gareth Malone consists of five heats has six choirs with one winner and one runner up They found out about the show through a friend who said it might be something they are interested in.

They then contacted the team and auditioned in Manchester before being invited onto the show.

Ms Taylor's choir is a vocal harmony group which mainly sings pop songs and performed with Jermaine Jackson on the night.

Mr Lindsay's choir is an all male acapella group and performed with Bebe Rexha who was the guest judge for their heat.

Ms Taylor said: "This whole experience has been a dream come true.

"I feel so proud that all of us achieved something so massive while undertaking our every day jobs.

"To perform alongside people so talented has been utterly amazing and something I'll never forget."

The pair who both attended sixth form college at Howell's School in Cardiff have a musical background with Ms Taylor joining Sgarmes at Aberystwyth University and Mr Lindsay being a former chorister at Llandaff Cathedral.
