The following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court sitting at Cardiff:

Alexander Payne, aged 26, of St David's Crescent, Penarth, pleaded guilty to damaging an iPhone 6. He was discharged conditionally for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 surcharge.

Sam William Morgans, aged 25, of Grimson Close, Sully, pleaded guilty to being in charge of a motor vehicle after consuming so much alcohol that the proportion in his breath exceeded the prescribed limit. He was fined £80 and banned from driving for six months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Jonathon Rhys Thomas Youd, aged 35, of Andrew Road, Penarth, pleaded guilty to one count of possessing cannabis and one count of drug driving. A community order was made and he was fined £120. He was banned from driving for 24 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Elaine Tracy Susan Davies, aged 20, of Sir Ivor Place, Dinas Powys, pleaded guilty to assault. A community order was made and she was fined £80. She was ordered to pay £85 costs.

Adrian Emary, aged 33, of Glebe Street, Penarth, pleaded guilty to stealing mincemeat from a shop during the period of a conditional discharge order. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay £2.99 compensation.

Shauna Ellis, aged 19, of Andrew Road, was found guilty of travelling on a railway without paying a fare and intending to avoid payment. A fine of £440 was imposed and an order for £2.90 compensation was made. There were also orders for £130 costs and a £44 surcharge.

Jake Hunter, aged 21, of Windsor Road, Penarth, pleaded guilty to one count of driving whilst disqualified, one count of driving without insurance and one count of driving without a test certificate during the period of a community order.

He was sentenced to 16 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months. He was also made subject to a curfew requirement with electronic monitoring and required to carry out 200 hours unpaid work within the next 12 months.

He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.

Daniel John Harrison, aged 35, of Northcliffe, Penarth, was found guilty to damaging a motor vehicle, pleaded guilty to sending an offensive or obscene message and one count of sending an offensive or obscene phone call. He was sentenced to a total of 16 weeks in prison. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.
