A DISPLAY of pumpkins and giant vegetables in Dinas Powys has raised more than £200 for charity.
The display outside the Three Horseshoes pub in the village centre last week raised £266 for Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern (DPVC). The winner of the “Guess the Weight of the All the Whoppers” competition was Catrin Lewis of Pembroke Close in Dinas Powys who won a box of vegetables and wine.
The total weight of all the pumpkins and vegetables was 238 kg (524 lbs)
Thanks go to Cecil Townsend, well known gardener and Dinas Powys Village Show competitor, for holding this colourful annual event. Cecil’s continuing support for DPVC is greatly appreciated.
DPVC is a local charity that provides transport, befriending and wellbeing services for older residents who live in the Dinas Powys area.
