A LOCAL author best known for her hugely popular 'Fellhounds of Thesk' series, is offering a series of creative writing workshops to budding writers across Penarth and Dinas Powys next month.

Cathy Farr, who was written the young adult novels 'Moon Chase' and 'Moon Crossing', is hosting two one-day sessions in October, the first at Foxy's in Penarth on Sunday, October 1, and the second at The White Gekko Lounge in Dinas Powys on Thursday, October 5.

Ms Farr will alos be providing attendees with a free copy of her Bridge Writing: Writer’s Pack, a guide to creative writing.

Ms Farr's first fantasy adventure, Moon Chase, was widely praised by Teach Secondary magazine, while she has written a further five fiction and three non-fiction works since this time.

Aimed at adults, the workshops will teach techniques used by professional authors intended to coach budding writers to produce stories that others will want to read.

"People will get the opportunity to try out different voices, dream-up characters and use various points of view," said Ms Farr.

"You don’t have to come with an idea for a novel or even the dream of ever writing one. Simply gaining the skills to express yourself better, for many people, is a gain in itself."
