A DENTISTRY team from Penarth are up for yet another national award.

The team at Hickman House Dental Surgery based on Hickman Road have been named as finalists in the Best Team in Wales category in the Dentistry Awards 2017.

Practice manager Kirsty White is also up for best team member in Wales.

The Dentistry Awards is the profession’s biggest celebration, recognising excellence in UK and Irish dentistry for over a decade.

Hickman House are up against three other finalists.

The team had to overcome two tragic events within a short space of time in recent years.

The husband of one of the principal dentists was diagnosed with cancer and died just six months later.

Three months after that, the other principal dentist was involved in a motorcycle crash and was left paralysed.

But the team has rallied around and their response has earned them a Welsh Denistry Award, recognition in Dental Republic’s Dental Awards and best practice manager in the British Dental Association awards for Mrs White

Mrs White said: “I would just like to say how I am so proud of all the team to make the finals of our second awards in 2017.

“I admire them all for their continued hard work and dedication.

“They are an inspiring bunch and are a pleasure to lead. We would like to wish the best of luck to Natalie and her team at Bamboo Dental who are also up for Best Team in Wales.”

The winners are announced at the end of November.
