BUDDING writers will have the chance to flex their creative muscles this month with a creative writing day from a renowned local author.
Cathy Farr will be hosting the session in Dinas Powys this month to spend the day developing characters, writing from different points of view and offering advice on a range of practical writing activities.
The sessions are inspired by workshops and tutorials that Ms Farr attended when she studied creative writing with the Open University. She has spent the past eight years writing novels and developing her own teaching material.
"The day is ideal for people who are interested in improving their own writing, those who like writing, or those who simply want to have a go at doing something different," said Ms Farr.
"My aim is to let people try out techniques used by professional writers. You don’t have to be planning to write a novel to come along: just being able to better express yourself, for many, is a gain in itself."
Places for the course are limited to twelve, so early booking is advised. The workshop is being held in the Dinas Powys Parish Hall on January 31 and costs £38 to attend. For more information and to book, contact Cathy at cathy@bitebooks.co.uk or on 02920 511031.
