THE Shop Penarth loyalty scheme will be marking St David’s Day by highlighting the amount of Welsh products available in the town.

Participating businesses will be putting on offers to promote their Welsh products from February 27 until March 2 with a street stall planned for St David’s Day itself between 11am and 1pm at the entrance to Windsor Arcade.

Shop Penarth was relaunched by community group Gwyrddio Penarth Greening and local traders in September 2017, since when more than 50 retailers have signed up.

Sweet shop Umpa Lumpa -will be offering 10 per cent off all sweets, chocolates, fudge and gifts made in Wales, Foxy’s Deli will be offering 10 per cent off all Welsh products, Griffin Books will be offering 20 per cent off Welsh language books, Welsh learning materials, Welsh language greeting cards, Anne Morgan Jewellery will offer 10 per cent off all work from the five Welsh makers stocked by the shop, Fauvette’s discounted cheese of the week will be a Welsh cheese, Windsor Fruit Stores will offer six welsh free range eggs for £1.30.

Anthony Slaughter from GPG said: “The key aim of the Shop Penarth scheme is to support our many local independent businesses by encouraging people to shop local and we are very excited by how strongly Penarth traders have responded to this St David’s Day promotion.

“The Shop Penarth traders are offering some very generous discounts on a wide range of quality Welsh produce and goods offering shoppers a wonderful opportunity to support their local economy and help build a greener future for the town.”

Shop Penarth cards are £2 for life and can be bought from any of the participating retailers whose offers can be viewed at shoppenarth.co.uk.
