IN THIS week’s From The Archive, we feature the Great Pancake Race of Cogan.
This photograph from the Penarth Times shows officials and competitors from the race which took place on a Sunday morning in March in 1968.
It was a bright and sunny morning as fifteen starters lined up.
The winners on the day included Mrs S Morgan, Mrs Mary Saunders and Mrs Pat Orchard.
The runners-up were Mrs Ellis and Mrs Shirley Handel.
The race was started by the Penarth Times’ very own David Lewis and was organised by Capt H J Winterbottom MBE, landlord of the Cogan Hotel and Mr E D Morgan, chairman of the Cogan Coronation Club.
We are always on the look out for historical pictures of Penarth for our feature.
