FINANCIAL advisers are to give a talk to local residents on how best to protect their financial assets in later life, when faced with the prospect of expensive, long-term care.
Blackstone Partners, a locally based independent financial advisory firm, will be delivering the talk at Penarth Conservative Club on Tuesday, March 20.
The group have recently held similar sessions in Cardiff, and will be discussing common mistakes to avoid in financial planning, how decisions are made on who pays for care and the pitfalls of gifting money or assets to children.
Blackstone Partners advisor Gareth Chalk said: "It’s estimated that around 40,000 people are forced to sell their homes each year to pay for care."
"It’s frustrating that people have worked hard to own their home and build up savings, to then worry that they may be wiped out in order to pay for care costs."
