THIS week’s From the Archives features a look back in time to the 1920s.

This picture dates from around 1923 and shows the top of Cliff Hill, the area which marks the starting point of the Cliff Walk.

Note the shelter (which is still there but unlikely to be the same structure seen in this photograph) and the area that would become a putting green.

The tree directly behind the bench is the famous “Sisley Tree”.

This tree is known as such due to it being painted by renowned impressionist landscape artist Alfred Sisley in his 1897 work entitled “Cardiff Shipping Lane”.
