Rugby League: South Wales Academy Trials for Under-20s
7:00am Thursday 10th January 2013 in Sport
PLAYERS from across Wales can take a giant step towards big time rugby league with the first South Wales Academy Trials for the Under-20s taking place on Sunday (11.30am meet).
A restructuring of the national age groups throughout the UK has given players a chance to play at an extra age group level before heading into the senior set-up.
Now the race is on to find the next players who want to step into rugby league's professional set-up in South Wales.
Players interested should download the registration document at http://www.walesrugbyleague.co.uk/
Wales Rugby League Head of Performance Dan Clements said: "This is a great chance for late teenagers to try their hand at our exciting sport and, maybe, follow in the footsteps of other Welsh players who have made the transition from raw recruits to full internationals.
"Our age group players have also been snapped up by some of the biggest Super League clubs in the country and are now making substantially good careers for themselves as a result. Do you fancy the challenge too? Then register and see what you can do."
The South Wales Academy Under-20 Trials take place at Glamorgan Sports Park, Treforest Industrial Estate, Treforest CF37 5YR this Sunday (January 13).
The deadline for the registration documents to be completed for the trial is Friday, January 11.
