Young athlete enjoys training with McCain elite athletics ambassador Marilyn Okoro

PROMISING local athlete Tom Atkinson took part in a special training session recently, with McCain elite athletics ambassador Marilyn Okoro.
Identified by McCain as having considerable potential in athletics, Dinas Powys resident and Stanwell student Tom has taken great strides since being selected through the home-grown talent scheme last year.
His rapid rise continued at the Welsh Atletics & Welsh Schools Combined Events Championships in November, where his performances in the shot put, long jump, 800 metres and 60 metre hurdles saw him pick up the Under 13 title.
And that earned him some one-on-one time with Olympic athlete Okoro.
Hot prospect Tom said: “I got to experience some first class training with Marilyn.
“It was inspiring and has certainly fuelled my motivation to continue improving.”
