Chance to get involved with Sully-based Barry Wanderers Cricket Club
7:40am Thursday 24th January 2013 in Sport
TITLE DEFENCE: Barry Wanderers Cricket Club's 2nd XI will start their 2013 campaign in April defending the First Division title.
THE recent weather may suggest that we are about to enter a new Ice Age, but this has not deterred the ever-optimistic Barry Wanderers Cricket Club from starting preparations for the 2013 cricket season.
Although matches don’t get under way until the start of April, the Sully-based club are to host weekly net sessions at the Swalec Stadium in Cardiff.
The Wanderers currently boast four adult sides as well as Under-11 and Under-9 teams and are actively looking for new players of all ages and abilities.
This season the 1st XI will be playing in the top flight of the South Wales Conference, whilst the 2nd XI will be out to defend their Division 1 title. Those after a less competitive environment might prefer the pace of the Sunday Friendly XI, where a warm welcome and hearty tea is always assured.
The Wanderers has always been one of the friendliest cricket clubs in the area, and has a reputation for guaranteeing a game of cricket every week for every player – regardless of age or ability.
So, whether you see yourself as a budding Alistair Cook or just fancy dusting off your old school bat, the Wanderers would be delighted to have you on board.
