First piece of silverware for cricketers

THE Sully Cricket Club has won its first major trophy by completing an unbeaten season in the Cardiff Midweek League.
Beating Celtic Hawks in their last game of the season, Sully pipped Glenwood to the title, having been beaten - off the last ball of the match - by their close rivals in the Midweek League Cup final two weeks ago.
Club secretary and co-founder Gavin Beddard said: "After the disappointment of the cup final, it was great to bounce back and win the league title."
Sully knew that the last league game of the season would be no stroll in the park as the Hawks had a number of Dinas Powys players in their ranks. And that's the way it proved to be.
Electing to bat in a game reduced to 16 overs due to a switch of venue, Sully opened with Morgan and Mansoor who started quickly and continued to push the score along until the latter retired on 33 with the score on 64 off seven overs. Howe came and went and Morgan was next to go, well caught for 20 with the score on 82.
D Brennan hit some well timed blows before being bowled for 17 and, with Sully on 106 for four, A Davies and Sameer contributed 15 from the last two overs to take the final score to 121 for seven.
C Williams took four for 21 for the Hawks.
In reply, the Hawks had a go from the start but Sully kept their cool and the pick of the bowlers were M Loran (two for four from three overs), Mansoor(two for 10 off three) and Rana (two for 16 off three).
Hawks posted 93 for seven, with Sully winners by 28 runs.
SULLY: 121-7 (Mansoor 33ret, Morgan 20)
CELTIC HAWKS: 93-7 (M Loran 2-4, Mansoor 2-10, Rana 2-16)
This Saturday Sully Firsts play Cynon Valley in a league title decider and, on Sunday, the 2nd X1 play St Fagans.
