PENARTH TOWN 4
PLAYING away to Dockers in the Vale Premiership, the Penarth Town soccer side were well under strength due to injuries and work commitments.
Realising that it would be hard to get anything from the game, Penarth started the brighter and immediately put the Dockers' goal under pressure. Less than five minutes in, Pete Ryan cut in from the right to fire home a powerful left footed shot. Dockers responded strongly and put together some good passing moves, with one finished well to level the scores.
There were no more goals before half-time but, soon after the break, following a long clearance from Town 'keeper Gareth Hegarty, Grant Beedell nipped in for Town's second.
With Penarth really getting on top, more good work from Beedell led to an easy finish for Martyn Boulton. Town continued to press and, not long after, another cross from the right found an unmarked Shane Parker who finished in fine style for Town's fourth.
Dockers managed a late consolation but, at the final whistle, Penarth were worthy winners.
Penarth: Gareth Hegarty, Jack Stansfield, Tristan Davies, Chris Hegarty, Lewis Marsh, Jamie Harris, Pete Ryan, Leigh Bennett, Shane Parker, Grant Beedell and Martyn Boulton.
Town were back in action on Saturday and notched up another good win (5-3) in the Barry Cup against Masons. Grant Beedell (two) was again among the goals, while his younger brother also contributed two and Boulton notched the fifth.
