THE Penarth Windsor Tennis Club had a host of players in action at the weekend in county tournaments at 8&U and 9&U ages.

At the 9&U Mini Orange level, where Windsor is recognised as one of Wales’ leading clubs, there was further success for Addy Bradley Glinister. With one county tour tournament victory under his belt already this winter season, he finished runner-up in the latest event in Cardiff, being edged out in the final in a tight three-set match with Jethro dela Vega, from Swansea. In the 8&U Mini Red age group, Windsor players are taking their first steps at this county tour level and they were well represented by Neirin Gilani, Harry Ritchie, Felix Bockelmann-Evans and Holly Ritchie. All four put in noteworthy performances, with Neirin reaching the boys' semi-finals and Holly finishing as girls' runner-up. This was the second success of the weekend for Holly who was named Tennis Squad Player of the Month for her efforts on the David Lloyd World Tour Red Circuit, winning four out of five matches to help secure the ‘Mini Davis Cup’ for her team.

Windsor teams continued their campaign in the Vale Winter League circuit. Despite having many of its county performers ruled out through ineligibility, Windsor has shown its strength in depth where it tops the Red table and also the Orange event after an 8-2 victory over Llantrisant. Good performances from Kreshay Bharwani, Lucas Roberts, Jack Kilborn and Oscar Warne set the team up for an exciting end to the season. Jack Rees, Becky Davies, Lauren Ellis and Toby Chapman made the short trip to Penarth LTC, where Becky achieved the sole win, but the four will be buoyed by their performance against a strong team in a fixture previously abandoned due to torrential weather.
